Pantone has released their Fashion Color Report Spring 2014, entailing mixing pastel colours and neutrals with vivid brights. This array of colours seem to be inspired by nature and flora, with beautiful neutrals resembling sand and tranquillity to vivid bright colours representing new flowers in bloom.
Leatrice Eiseman - Executive Director for Pantone Colour Institute states;
"This season, consumers are looking for a state of thoughtful, emotional and artistic equilibrium. While the need for stability is reflected in the composition of the palette the inherent versatility of the individual colours allows for experimentation with new looks and colour combinations."

Sand is a beautiful beige colour. It is an elegant, warm, neutral that can be worn on it's own or paired with most colours for a beautiful and very classic look.
Pastels
Ted Baker Dress $685.27 |
Hemlock is known as the 'wildcard' colour despite emerald green taking out Pantone's top colour for 2013. Hemlock is a beautiful, natural summery, pastel green and for this season it can be thought of as a neutral colour also. This colour will be a beautiful accent to any other colour you choose to wear.
Michelle Viscose Maxi Skirt boohoo ($13.80) |
Placid Blue is a beautiful, calming colour that evokes a sense of overall peace and tranquillity. This tone will easily stand on its own but it will work well when paired with any other trend colour for the season.
Lola Strappy Camisole boohoo ($22.00) |
Violet Tulip is a vintage, purple pastel with a beautiful subtlety and romance embedded within. This purple has such a girly feel to it and is a beautiful colour that will suit various skin tones. A beautiful shade that will stand well alone or paired with another colour.
Vivids
Midi Dress with Obi Belt ASOS ($73.94) |
Cayenne is a very vibrant high-pitched red, with an orange hue. It is a playful and energetic colour that will bounce well with both the pastels and the neutrals this season. If, like me you could not pull off a red shade such as this opt for a statement accessory piece (handbag, statement necklace etc.).
Strappy Cami Maxi Dress Topshop ($31.05) |
Celosia Orange is a vibrant orange with a fruity, optimistic feel. It exudes spontaneity and confidence. A beautiful colour that can be worn alone or paired with another item.
Lucie Boyfriend Blazer boohoo ($40.00) |
Dazzling Blue is one of my favourite colours in this palette, I adore it. It is the complete opposite of Placid Blue yet it is not a navy. You could say it's more of a cobalt blue. It is a very scintillating, bright, loud blue hue that is definitely wearable. As with Cayenne, if you are uncomfortable wearing it as a whole piece, try a statement accessory.
Lilly Bandeau Jersey Playsuit boohoo ($18.00) |
Freesia is a blazing, floral inspired yellow. It is illuminating and very tropical. It reminds you of holidaying in Hawaii. Another item that can be worn as a statement piece for those of us who can't pull of such a vibrant colour.
Jess Crossover Front Lace Back Maxi Dress boohoo ($45.00) |
Radiant Orchid is the bold counterpart to Violet Tulip and is a wonderful stand alone shade. It is a beautiful purple and gives off a very spring-time feel.
